kindred spirits

Since starting this blog in December I have 'meet' many kindred spirits. Kindred spirit, "someone who feels and thinks the way you do".

I am connecting with people all over Australia, in fact the world. What an amazing opportunity and experience presented to me. I find it ever so interesting, and enjoy reading the posts of blogs I have chosen to 'follow'. Catching up on the latest blog posts is fast becoming both an essential and regular part of my day. I look forward to reading the latest posts and anticipate what the 'blogger' will have chosen to write about today.

Blogging is opening up the world around me. It's inspiring to share information and experiences, the good and the bad. Blogs I follow are written by women, women who in general possess and nurture a love of writing, reading, crafting, sewing, photography, cooking, gardening, family, a love of life. Women desire conversation and support, blogging provides this. The encouragement to post comes from knowing 'someone' will read my words, they may relate, they may connect, they may find it interesting, they may leave a comment.

For me blogging provides a space to reflect, to write, to connect, to learn, to be inspired and motivated to achieve my goals. In a sense it provides a journey of self discovery, incredible support from 'kindred spirits' and a great knowledge, awareness and appreciation of the world in which we interface.

Thank you 'kindred spirits' and new 'blogging friends' for sharing and being part of this journey with me.

What inspired you to create your blog and what is your inspiration to continue?

  1. Oh what lovely words, and I know just what you mean.
Just before I started blogging I was reading a lot of Twitter friends' blogs, then my sister started blogging and I wished I could write like 'them'. I've never had a desire to write...ever! But I felt like everyone else was working or writing or blogging and I felt a bit dull because I didn't 'do' anything other than be a mum (which of course is extremely important but not very taxing on the old grey matter). I didn't think I could do it but for some reason I kept thinking about blogging. So I created one & called it "Do I Really Wanna Blog?" not knowing what, if anything, I had to say. And then, as you've said, I discovered this whole new world that I love. Amazing people, amazing stories, and some so funny I giggle out loud. And I've also discovered I love to write...who knew!!
Thanks for this post, sorry my comment is sooooooo long! lol :)

  2. Thanks for your comment Thea :) It really is an amazing world for us to be part of. Like you once I became aware of 'blogging' I kept thinking about it, eventually stepping out of my comfort zone and into a world I didn't know what to expect, and wow what an overwhelming experience. Early days for me but I'm loving the journey, the new 'friends' I'm meeting and the opportunity to share experiences, thoughts and opinions with like minded women - it's just great!
I love long comments too :) Have a lovely weekend.

  3. My blog actually started life as a wedding journal, but then I felt like I had so much more to say that it evolved into a broader personal blog. I plan to keep blogging as long as it's enjoyable and not a chore. Right now I have so many ideas that I have multiple drafts waiting to be posted, but I have resolved to stop blogging if I ever feel the need to resort to one of those "okay, I don't have much to say today so I thought I would list the contents of my kitchen drawer" type posts.

On the flip side, I find myself spending hours reading other people's blogs. Maybe it's voyeuristic of me, but I'm fascinated by the details of other people's lives. The majority of my blogroll are female bloggers and there's so much talent in there it blows me away and keeps me continually coming back for more. You're on my list now!

  4. Hi Kelly! I too find myself spending literally hours reading blogs. One blog leads me to another. It's an addiction of sorts which I need to keep in check! I too find myself fascinated by people's lives, their opinions and their creativity. OMG there is SO MUCH TALENT out there!! Imagine getting a group of bloggers together to share their creative talents!
I love that I am 'meeting' so many like minded and incredibly talented women!
I look forward to following your posts :)
    Thanks for your comment too!

  5. I first discovered blogging when I was looking for wedding inspiration. I very soon became addicted to trawling through the many beautiful blogs I came across and I was amazed how many 'kindred spirits' I came across. I decided to start a blog because I had so many ideas running around in my head for my wedding, my house, things I want to make etc, I needed an outlet for all of these things. I never expected that anybody would actually read what I had to say! I am so grateful for the words of support I've had from my small group of followers. I can honestly say that blogging has changed my life - I'm calmer, more motivated, more inspired. And it's all thanks to other bloggers like yourself for sharing their wonderful lives with me. Thank you x

  6. Hello Sarah Elizabeth, my experience is very similar to yours. I too have found myself spending many hours 'addicted' to reading blog sites. Thank you for sharing your experiences and thoughts. I'm really enjoying the opportunity to 'meet' so many talented and interesting women. Thank you!

  7. I too have found blogging to be such a positive experience and have found that it has enriched my daily life so much. It is wonderful to have made such lovely blogging friends, kindred spirits who share a love of similar interests, whose positive feedback and comments always put a smile on my face and whose own blog posts I always look forward to. I first started blogging after years of reading others' blogs - I had recently had a baby and thought that blogging would be a great way for me to 'use my brain' for something non-baby related. I'm so glad that I took the plunge to start my own blog x
