Friday the 12th of March 2010 had been marked in my diary for months. I waited ever so patiently for this day to arrive. Like an excited teenager, I couldn't wait for Angus and Julia Stone to release their new album Down the Way.
Finally the 12th of March was here, by lunchtime I had purchased the album through iTunes and was playing it LOUD on my iPod. Technology today! I've barely stopped playing it since. I'm a huge fan, enjoying this new album SO MUCH!!

ReplyDeleteUsually it takes me a while to get used to an album, but I loved it as I love A Book Like This. I love Draw Your Swords, And the Boys, For You and Big Jet Plane.
I bought the special edition CD set and it comes with a bonus disc of their most recent B-Sides - including the ones where they sung eachother's songs. I love the bonus disc too.
The thing I love about A&J is their CDs are a whole experience - great artwork, great music, great lyrics.

ReplyDeleteI heard them on JJJ doing Paper Aeroplane and Private Lawns.
And then I saw them play live at the Rob Roy. I went in to buy a ticket and there were these three shy looking people near the bar. They asked me if I was seeing Angus and Julia Stone that night. I said yes, and raved over them. Then I put two and two together, and I said 'YOU ARE ANGUS AND JULIA STONE!!'
And since then I've spoken to them at each gig I have seen them at. There are some pictures of me with them on my Facebook.
At the Corner Hotel gig they invited me backstage. And Hepburn Springs I chatted to them for ages out the front of the venue. They are so nice.

You definitely have to go along to a future gig - they are wonderful live.
Down the Way is such a gorgeous album.
And yes, Julia's dress was amazing. You can't really see the beaded bodice, but the green was divine.
